The Poets Golf Society

The "Poets" society was formed in 2004, and was started by Barkway Park Golf Club members in order to have some fun golf at different courses. We usually meet up four times a year, and usually the meet ups are on a Friday, hence the name P.... Off Early, Tomorrows Saturday!

In 2008 the 4 venues where Brookmans Park in May, selected as a tribute to a dear friend to all at Barkway, Pete Smalley, then we played Millbrook Golf Club in July. The next venue was Abbotsley, and that was played in October. Then the last meet up was at Barkway, in December for the Christmas comp.

Each year there is a new captain, and they are called the Poet Laureate. The Laureate do the presentation at the end of each meet up, and are also expected to contribute a poem. They are also in charge of selecting the Summer Venue, which are then passed on to Greg Smith (Tarzan) who then books the venues.

This year Chris Barker (Barking Mad) is to be our laureate, past captains to date have been:
2004 John Pickin (Cotton)
2005 Kevin Streeting (Kaos)
2006 Jamie Bates (Prozac)
2007 Andrew Rusbridge (Rusty)
